Jack’s practice includes providing clients and other lawyers detailed letters of advice on complex litigation and intellectual property-related issues. In conjunction with leading senior counsel, he has advised large international and New Zealand-based companies. The subject-matter of this advice has included issues of contractual interpretation, tortious liability and available defences, as well as litigation and arbitration-related procedural issues.

Jack has particular experience in providing advice on intellectual property matters stemming from his experience working with Andrew Brown QC. In that role, he drafted advice to global leaders in the pharmaceutical and medical device fields on their rights under New Zealand patent law, including for bringing proceedings for patent infringement. He has also provided advice to leading industry bodies on their copyright interests, particularly in the music, book publishing and fashion industries.
